Cultural Video Foundation produce social documentaries for NGO's and International Organizations to:
- show to civil society, donors and stake-holders their projects on the fields and highlight the impact and the benefits of their activities
- promote public visibility and social networking for fund raising and social change campaigns
CVF services include: concept and script development, production and post-production, DVD composing and on-line distribution


Microinsurance Education Kenya - 2010

 

This short movie shows how the Swedish Cooperative Center (SCC) is educating farmers in Kenya about the importance of insurance. With support from the ILO Microinsurance Innovation Facility, SCC assists low-income families in dealing with the financial impact of shocks, such as disease and accidents.


GRT - Crossing the sea - 2010

 

A documentary produced by GRT for raising awareness on mixed migration challenges in Somalia. This Video aims to raise awareness on the risks of undertaking the dangerous trip across the gulf of Aden: unscrupulous smugglers, harassments by militias, sexual exploitations and human trafficking make the journey even more perilous, putting at stake the real life of the migrants. GRT has been involved on mixed migration issues in Somalia since November 2009. The main objectives of GRT's projects were to raise awareness on the human rights of migrants in transit and coming from Somalia and to mobilize local resources on addressing migrant's needs.

Poor people depend on the environment for their livelihoods and well-being. Improved management of the environment and natural resources contributes direclty to poverty reduction, more sustainable livelihoods and pro-poor growth. To fight poverty, to promote security and to preserve the ecosystems that poor people rely on for their livelihoods, we must place pro-poor economic growth and environmental sustainability at the heart of our economic policies, planning systems and institutions.

CISP - Malindi for children - trailer - 2010

 

Watch the trailer of Malindi for children, a documentary about the first edition of the Malindi Music Festival for Children December 2009. The Festival showcased a multicultural blend of musical talent including progressive Italian drumming star Tullio De Piscopo, a long list of big name Kenyan celebrity as Achien'g Abura, Yunasi Band, Kayamba Africa, Njota Ndogo and local talents. The event has been a meeting point for different cultures and an opportunity for exchange and mutual inter-cultural understanding. The Festival is part of the "Malindi Protects Children" Campaign, a joint effort from both the local community and the tourism sector to combat any form of sexual exploitation of children and to promote responsible tourism on the Kenyan Coast. The Festival has been organized by CISP in collaboration with Malindi & Watamu Tourism Welfare Group with the support of UNICEF and a large number of Malindi and Kenya wide based businesses.

A short documentary featuring ICT development in Africa with emphasis on how the Rural Internet Kiosk (RIK) is changing the way rural Africa communicates. The Rural Internet Kiosk is 100% solar powered and is connected to the Internet via Satellite using Astra2Connect VSAT technology.


Stop dumping death on us - 2009

 

This video explains the campaign to close the Dandora dump site in Nairobi which is the biggest human rights violation in Kenya. What is the campaign proposing? 1. immediately close the Dandora dumping site 2. create a policy for waste management 3. create recycling infrastructures and formal employment for the people currently working around the dumping site 4. relocate the dumping site into a non-residential area where only the non-recyclable waste will be dumped 5. reclaim and decontaminate the Dandora area


Intersos - 2009

 

Informational video to highlight the opening of a new WOFAK center by the Non-profit humanitarian organization Intersos. Intersos in partnership with WOFAK - Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya - is active in Kenya mainly by helping the HIV positive mothers and orphans in Kayole, located in Nairobi, facing the disease and the related problems. With this new center, WOFAK has the possibility to achieve better results in the activities carried on.

Terra Nuova
Behind the livestock - 2009

 

Informational video to highlight Terra Nuova livestock projects and programs in Somaliland and Somalia. Livestock contributes significantly to the livelihoods of the Somali people (40% of the total GDP and 80% of foreign currency earnings). The region’s economy is unique with over half of the population dependent on nomadic pastoralism for its livelihood. The Somali system is oriented towards livestock trade and export, in fact livestock trade dates back to the 14th century. Terra Nuova has been active in Somalia since 1994 concentrating its interventions in the livestock sector. The strategic objective of Terra Nuova interventions is to enhance the capacity of its stakeholders and institutions to improve animal production, health and marketing for the benefit of marginalised communities. This video focuses in particular on three main projects of Terra Nuova in Somaliland: Sheikh Technical Veterinary School, the Livestock Trade and Marketing Project and the Somali Animal Health Services Project.

Do you see what I see – Refugee children photograph their own lives – 2008

 

This video is a collaboration between CVF and the Photographer B. Bannon, a video, audio-narrated slideshow about a photography workshop by Brendon Bannon in Namibia and Ethiopia refugee camps. This project gave refugee children a chance to explore the totality of the refugee experience; to show the world both the differences and similarities of their lives.

The footage of the video has been filmed by CVF crew between December and January 2008. Post-election violence in Kenya has forced thousands to flee their homes. Somalia Rising – 2008

 

Educational video for fundraising and sensitization promoting school enrolment in Somalia.

CISP runs different educational projects in Somalia.
This video is about Somalia and its educational system and aims to promote an exchanges between Italian and Somali students and to fund raise for the enlargement of a primary school in Galkayo (Somalia). All the audio tracks in fact have been produced by the young student of Ganassi School of Music in Rome and the documentary has been screened in different schools around Italy.

The project is the result of a partnership between CISP, Rome City Council and Ganassi School of Music. Only in Italian

A video to promote COSV health project in South Sudan – 2007

 

In South Sudan, in the middle of a big swamp, seven days of canoe from the nearest village, there is Nyal. No electricity, cars or markets, just a community of Nuer who settled there running away from the war.

Here COSV is running the only health project of the whole area: an hospital and different dispensaries.
